Latest Stories - 2018 Phoenix Fund Campaign a Huge Success

Waterford’s 2018 Phoenix Fund
campaign has been a huge success.
The Phoenix Fund is a campaign in
which Waterford’s Governing Council members, staff, students and current
parents come together in a joint effort to further improve life on the campus,
by realizing smaller, on campus projects, which are not covered by the school’s
annual budget. The students vote for these projects and the campaign is
conducted every other year.
This year’s campaign was about raising E100 000 for implementation of four projects: : buying 4 new drinking fountains, replacing plastic cafeteria cups, buying new cutlery and placing heaters in the classrooms. The school has come to the end of the 2018 Phoenix Fund campaign and the amount raised is E101, 112.
Parent contributions have increased substantially. For the first time this year, we have a group donation from Ugandan parents. This is a group of 17 families that came together and donated towards Phoenix Fund 2018. The number of families that have donated towards Phoenix Fund 2018 has shown an increase of 655% compared to the previous campaign.
The staff community has also contributed significantly towards Phoenix Fund 2018. There are 42 members of staff that contributed (that is both academic and housekeeping and maintenance).
The school principal Stephen Lowry said, “I would like to extend a word of appreciation to parents, students, staff and members of our Governing Council for supporting this year’s efforts. Once again, the Waterford community has achieved a great goal. In fact we have exceeded our target for this year’s Phoenix Fund, which was E100 000. In the coming weeks we will be working towards implementing the projects for this year’s campaign. Thank you for making our campus a better place.”
