Latest Stories - Dr. Gambe Delivers Stern Lecture
On Thursday 3 February 2022 Waterford Kamhlaba celebrated its 59th birthday by having an inaugural lecture series to honour its Founder Michael Stern’s centenary birthday. The school welcomed dignitaries from Eswatini and all over the world who joined both physically and virtually for this historic celebration. Dr. Alban Gambe PhD, a member of the WK teaching staff, delivered a great lecture centered around the history of Waterford and Stern’s contribution to the school. Dr Gambe completed his dissertation titled: "Waterford Kamhlaba, Swaziland: A history of the first nation-apartheid multiracial school in exile, 1963-2000".
Therefore, it was an opportunity not only to celebrate his achievement but to share the legacy of Waterford's historical institution. Dr. Gambe delivered a sterling presentation on Stern’s values, ideals and actions. He also talked about the school’s founding staff and how they shared Stern’s vision of building a multiracial school in which students could not be hindered by their socio-economic backgrounds as they pursue quality international education.
This event marked the beginning of The
Stern Lecture Series, to be held annually
in Term 1 of the academic year.
