Waterford Kamhlaba’s Virtual UWC Africa Week
2021 Team of students has delivered a great UWC Africa Week event!
The past week was full of exciting virtual
events including the Virtual Annual Careers Fair and UWC Africa Week opening by
WK alumna Treasure Maphanga on Wednesday, 4 August. Also featured was a moving keynote address by
Professor PLO Lumumba who, consistent with the theme (A Resilient Africa), gave a detailed encapsulation of Africa’s
resilience. The virtual panel webinars were equally impressive; first, was a panel on ‘The Propeller Behind An AfriCAN’, followed by ‘Africa, Twice As Tall.’ The last panel forum was on Saturday, 7 August focusing on African Women in STEM and Tech Leadership.
Waterford Principal, Patricia Angoy, congratulated the students for organizing these
events, saying, “As we congratulate the students for successfully delivering
the virtual events, appreciation goes to staff, alumni and friends of WK, the
guest speakers as well as panellists who
participated in the events of the week.”
Outgoing Head of Logistics, Sisekelo Mlotsa, strongly encouraged all Waterford students to
consider being a part of the organization of UWC Africa Week to sharpen and show off their leadership capabilities. “UWC Africa Week
promises to grow and take on a larger part of the international stage,” he
said.
