On Friday evening, the 2nd of February 2018, Waterford Kamhlaba held an exciting cocktail party to celebrate local alums and thank the teachers / referees who helped get the school alumni to university. John Storer, Waterford’s Admissions Director and University Advisor, mentioned that the school had won a grant to have the party. He thanked the teachers who have made it possible for alums to get to university through their references. “I would also like to thank everyone for coming, including our parents and alums. We are aware that some have travelled from afar including from South Africa and Mozambique to be with us tonight,” he said.
The event was attended by Waterford alums, staff and IB2 parents. The latter’s participation was aimed at giving them an opportunity to speak to alums about the University application process. Everyone seemed to enjoy the party; the food, drinks, chats and music. The principal, Stephen Lowry reminded everyone that the 3rd of February is Waterford’s 55th birthday. “Eat and be merry, he concluded.”
