Many international students are left with the deep feeling of homesickness and exclusion during the Thanksgiving Weekend in November in the USA. Sadly, this is the time when people are supposed to be blissful and looking forward to the weekend, however, many are left in a vacant university or college dorm. Our plea to you is to open up your home to welcome one or two more guests who are WK alumni in university or college in your area, to come and enjoy a proper Thanksgiving with your family. If you are willing to help, please contact Lwazi Ngwenyama at or sign up here

The TEDx organizing committee is pleased to invite you to the upcoming 2017 TEDxUWCSA event on Sunday, the 23rd of July. Seats are limited and the entrance is only by application on the following link:

The event will be hosted on the Waterford Kamhlaba campus in the assembly hall starting 11AM. We will have a series of 8 live talks from our students and a UWC alumni. In addition, there will be performances from Waterford’s circus and marimba clubs and coffee and tea will be served during breaks. The event will end at 5PM.

For those of you who are new to the TEDx format, a TEDx event is a local gathering where live TED-like are shared with the community. It is a suite of short, carefully prepared talks, demonstrations and performances that are idea-focused, and cover a wide range of subjects to foster learning, inspiration and wonder — and provoke conversations that matter.
