29 JULY 2023

We’ve never had a celebration like this one AND we really want you to be a part of it!

Waterford Kamhlaba turned 60 this year and to celebrate this very significant milestone we have an amazing day planned for you on 29 July. Our celebrations peak with a massive day of fun, challenges, interactive engagements, food, kids’ games, and much more creating a sense of community.

Here’s the programme for the day:

Phoenix Endurance

Start your day with one of a variety of activities including a hike of Tom and Kelly, a 6 km fun run, a soccer match, aerobics, yoga, and more. Brace yourself for the Polar Bear swim in temperatures of 14 degrees or lower! Connect with others and get that body charged up!

60th Celebration

Come together with the WK community, including staff and students, to celebrate our past and imagine our future. Be inspired by student performances of music, dance, and poetry, engage with Jackie Otula (WK’s new Principal) and other school leadership, and/or a themed tour of the campus. Visit our brand new museum at the Rondavels.

Phoenix Fest

Dance, eat, and play with this afternoon of fun. It’s all here: live music, food, craft stalls, and games! An African Market, music festival, and fete all rolled into one.

Africa Night

Cap off your day with this evening of performances, part of WK’s annual student-run Africa Week.

Understandably, you are coming to celebrate with us and there are some items we would appreciate your contribution to because we want you here with us on this special day, so please ensure you bring some cash so you can join in on all the fun and goodies! A minimum contribution on the day will unlock your entry:

E50 – Adults

E20 – Kids (under 12 years)

This event, unlike reunions in the past, will be held while school is open so that the whole community is able to celebrate together. As a result, on-campus accommodation is unavailable.

Our generous hospitality partners Hilton Garden Inn (Eswatini) and City Lodge (South Africa) have extended discounts to WK friends and family for this event. Please visit our website to see these and much more!
