Music

There are many ways to get creative with music, both within and without the school curriculum, and opportunities exist for all kinds of musicians.

Individual lessons are currently available for a range of instruments, namely:

  • Guitar
  • Bass guitar
  • Piano
  • Drums
  • Flute
  • Clarinet
  • Saxophone

Around 140 students are currently enrolled for music lessons.

There are various ensembles, bands, choirs and groups that students can join, including:

  • Marimba groups
  • A jazz band
  • Umbholoho ("traditional wedding song") groups
  • The school choir
  • A classical ensemble

There are also opportunities available in the Music IT department, including regular workshops during which students can learn to use the available hardware and software, before being granted unsupervised access to the studio. The studio itself has five fantastic workstations running Cubase, Reason and Sibelius 4.
